Partial List of Monthly Reminders

April

• Start of Lodge year. Officers installed between March 15th and April 15th. (Section 12.010 GLS)

• The Exalted Ruler must have all statutory Committees appointed by the first lodge meeting after their installation. (Section 13.020 GLS)

• All Lodge Officers must memorize their parts within 30 days after installation. (Section 12.130 GLS)

• Attend District Meeting and DDGER Clinic. Mandatory for Exalted Ruler, Leading Knight, Secretary and Trustee Chairman.

May

• Elks National Youth Week.

• Present lodge budget at first lodge meeting of month.

• Review Lodge Lapsation.

• Attend Michigan Elks Association Annual Meeting.

June

• Mandatory Flag Day Observance. (Section 2.030)

• Grand Lodge Flag Day and Americanism contest entries should be in the mail.

• Lodge Audit Reports must be mailed to Grand Lodge no later than June 30th.

July

• Exalted Rulers attend the Grand Lodge Session. (Section 12.120 GLS)

• Submit quarterly membership report

August

• Check on Lodge Committees and progress of Lodge Goals. Make adjustment as needed.

• Make preparations for District Vice-President and DDGER visitations.

September

• Attend District Meeting and DDGER Clinic. Mandatory for Exalted Ruler, Leading Knight, Secretary and Trustee Chairman.

• Make plans for conducting your Most Valuable Student contest. (Be sure to get proper publicity.)

• Distribute ENF Scholarship forms

• Hold Lodge Soccer Kick

October

• Attend Michigan Elks Association Fall Meeting.

• Participate in District Soccer Kick Contest.

November

• Plan for Lodge’s participation in Hoop-Shoot Contest. (Be sure to get proper publicity)

• Review Lodge Lapsation (See Grand Lodge’s Membership Manual)

• Concentrate on getting new members. (See Grand Lodge’s “Exalted Ruler Handbook”)

• Anniversary of Michigan Elks Association. (Formed in 1904)

• Submit quarterly membership report

• Participate in Area 4 Soccer Kick

December

• Hold Elks Memorial Service. (Mandatory First Sunday - Section 2.020 GLS)

• Prepare and submit a brochure for your memorial Service to Grand Lodge.

• Hold Lodge Hoop-Shoot Free Throw contest.

January

• Scholarship entries due first week of January

• Participate in District Hoop-Shoot Free Throw Contest.

• Attend District Meeting and DDGER Clinic. Mandatory for Exalted Ruler, Leading Knight, Secretary and Trustee Chairman.

• Veterans Remembrance Reports due by January 15th

• Enter your Lodge Bulletin in Grand Lodge Contest.

• Submit entry forms for your District Ritual Contest.

February

• February 16th – Birthday of Our Order.

• Leading Knights – Work with Budget Committee and Trustees in preparing a budget for next year.

• Nomination of Officers – First meeting (Section 3.080 GLS)

• Election of Officers – Second meeting (Section 3.090 GLS)

• Submit quarterly membership report

March

• Mop-Up month – Last chance to check on your goals.

• Elks National Foundation contributions deadline – March 15th.

• Prepare activities for Elk of the Year. (Deadline is March 31st.)

• March 15th is deadline for most GL contests.

• March 31st is deadline to submit names for GL Awards.

• New Exalted Rulers – submit “New Exalted Ruler Report”.

• Submit Lodge Annual Report.
