The old saying goes "A CHAIN IS ONLY AS STRONG AS ITS WEAKEST LINK". The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is currently attempting to either repair or replace those links that have been weakened by time. I will look to all of you for your help in repairing those links in the Michigan Elks Association this upcoming year.

Our Order is going to be experiencing many major changes and it is up to us as the Leaders of the Association to make sure these changes will be implemented smoothly. As the President this year, I have picked a team of chairmen that I believe will do an outstanding job throughout the year. Those who did an outstanding job last year were asked tocontinue on and others are new chairmen because of the jobs they did for their own Lodge, District, or past State appointments. I will expect much from the DVP's, DVC's, and the State Chairmen this year.

This is not a one man show. The successes we have this year will be because of each and every one of you. We all realize that there has been a huge financial strain in both the State and Our Country. I must say that I am extremely proud of the Michigan Elks. Even in these trying times we have been able to continue our programs for the children, our veterans, and our communities. We are needed now more than ever and I trust this year we will push ahead because, after all, we are ELKS.

Fraternally
Keith E. Alverson, President
