In response to a number of questions from lodges in the Southeast District and a lot of misinformation, I spoke with Ken Kurtz, State Representative of District 58 and he had his staff send me the attached information. The highlighted part of the attached is what I thought to be the real essense of the legislation.
My direct question was, will the no smoking ban be enforceable in private clubs like the Elks and Eagles. The answer was, yes, private clubs are included in the bill.
I thought that you might find some of this useful in your District meetings. While the bill doesn't take effect until May, there is only 3 months to notify members of the coming change and to make any provisions necessary.
