Michigan Elks Soccer Shoot
Get ready for the 2007 Michigan State Soccer Shoot! The State Competition will take place on Saturday, October 6, in Canton, Michigan. We are planning to hold the event outdoors; however, if the weather doesn't cooperate, it will be held indoors. It is important to tell the kids to bring their gym shoes in case the shoot has to be held indoors.
All lodges should have received an Elks Soccer Shoot Program Manual from Grand Lodge by now. Please see your Lodge Secretary if you don't have your copy yet, or contact me and I will make sure you receive a copy. This manual describes the contests for the various age groups and details the necessary components to build the goals. It also contains all the necessary reports that need to be completed and filed on the local, district, and state levels. I need to have all the District Soccer Shoot reports in to me by September 21. This will allow me an opportunity to contact all the winners of the District Shoots.
Soccer is the fastest growing sport in America. As Elks, we are committed to providing wholesome and healthy youth activities. My objective, with your help, is to expand the Michigan Elks Soccer Program, and I encourage you to add this invaluable program to your lodge's activities. I wish you all good luck with this.
Your first line of contact should be your District Soccer Shoot Chairperson. He or she should be able to assist you in your efforts to hold a successful shoot. If I can be of any help please don't hesitate to contact me.
