Trip to the Home for Veterans
Muskegon Elks #274

Muskegon Elks Lodge #274 held a steak fry for the Veterans at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans on August 19th. Sharon is a member of the Muskegon Lodge and wanted to
support her Lodge so we volunteered to help.
When we arrived we got busy with setting the tables. Then I helped with the making of the lemonade while Sharon continued
to help with the set-up. Next came the grilling for me, while Sharon help serve. 
The Muskegon Elks members showed up in large numbers to help with this project. Our hats go off to John Muller and his wife Gayle for organizing and chairing this event. Everything ran smoothly so it was evident that they had plenty of experience with this event.
The veterans really enjoyed the meal and dessert telling us that this is what they look forward to the most. Many of them ate extra steaks and double helpings of hot fudge sundaes.
For entertainment we played bingo. This they take vary serious as it provides them with extra spending money.
It was very rewarding for us to see first hand the joy that was instilled in these veterans. The members of the Muskegon Elks Lodge, volunteers, and friends clearly showed that ‘Elks Care & Elks Share.” Sharon and I hope to be part of this for years to come. You have put joy in all our hearts.
