IIndiana State Convention
St Joseph Golf Outing
June 6-8, 2008

Our trip to Indiana was very  enjoyable. Our hosts were Jim and Laquata Warren, Indaiana's  State President and First Lady.

The convention was held at  French Lick Springs Resort and Casino. It is a very nice hotel located in  the southwest corner of Indiana. We were treated to two very good  dinners, the Past State President's dinner and the President's dinner. As  I attended their meetings and talked and listened to the Indiana Elks, I found  we all seem to have the same or similar problems. We enjoyed their  hospitality and friendship.

We also had to opportunity to  meet the 2007 Miss Indiana, Nicole Nash. Nicole was also Miss USA runner  up. We also met the Miss Indiana Outstanding Teen, Morgan Jackson. They were each recipients of an Indiana Elks  Scholarship. They were both very personable young ladies. They each  gave a very nice speech thanking the Indiana Elks for their scholarship and what  it meant to them.

Another special project of the  Indiana Elks is Cancer Research.

Our return trip was a little  exciting. There was lots of rain, mud slides, and flooded  roads. We had to leave our designated route and seek an alternate route  because the expressway was under water.

We also stopped by the Golf  Course on Sunday Morning to watch the start of St.Joseph's Golf  Outing. There were some fellow Benton Harbor Lodge #554 fellow  golfers joining them for some fun.  Five of their officers were present in  Lodge attire for the speeches and send-off. I was priviledged to say a few  works and send them on their way.
