Rose Parade - June 1, 2008 Jackson Lodge #113
Our travels started with a trip to Jackson Lodge #113 for their Rose Festival Parade on Sunday, June 1. We arrived at the Lodge on Saturday afternoon in time for
their Senior Bingo. All of the Jackson money pots are still there. Volunteers provided us with a nice dinner of pulled pork sandwiches and all the trimmings. We helped their long time member Bill Emmons
celebrate his eighty-third (83) birthday. The homemade desserts were wonderful.
Sunday dawned bright and sunny and was a
beautiful day. Bob and Jan Haas took us to breakfast. Elk members and family members carried the Elk flag, Jackson Elks banner, and several American flags. Bob drove us in a PT
Cruiser convertible for the parade, Their "Lady Elk of the year" Pat Chaffin and her husband Dick followed in a 1969 Chevy 396 SS convertible driven by its origional owner Don Moore. We were all
treated to a nice lunch in the Lodge's pavilon when we returned from the parade. It was a great day.
We would like to thank Bob and Jan Haas for
being our hosts, and Lisa Baron and all of the Lodge members for making us feel right at home.
